How to stay consistent even when life throws new routines your way.
I started a new job at the beginning of January. News job really ask a lot in the beginning, you're trying to learn a whole new role. And with this job, it's a transition from an old role, so I'm also wrapping up a lot of that on top of it. I'm a little scared of the new role. I'm having to make decisions that affect the company. Decisions that I may not have all the answer to, before having to make it. I'm a recovering perfectionist, so doing something without having all the details and procedures in place is really hard. I'm afraid to make a mistake, to fail.
But I have also committed to failing as much as possible this year. Because failing is what helps me grow. Failing is how I learn and how I become the person I want to be. Failing is how I'm going to create the life I want.
How does failing tie into consistency? Well, the more consistent I am at failing, the more I'll succeed.
What is consistency? Here's what Merriam Webster Dictionary dot com says. For our purposes, we'll use the 1b meaning; harmony of conduct or practice with profession. The way I read that is, have the plan, conduct the plan, evaluate and rework the plan, but don't give up. No where is that word, do I see, have a perfect plan and complete things perfectly every time. aka, never fail.
Follow along, while I commit to being consistent in blogging this year. Amongst whatever life throws at me. I want to see the person I'm capable of being. Is writing a blog the answer? I don't know. But at least I'm committing to trying and failing so the next thing I do will come from what I learned at writing this blog. My new years plan. 52 blogs, published every Thursday. I already failed at that. I'm not going to quit. My new plan, 52 blogs, once per week. I'll fail at that too, but the one thing I won't fail at is the 52 blogs this year. Some weeks I'll actually publish on Thursdays. Some weeks, I might write 2 or 3 blog posts and schedule them for Thursdays. And some weeks, it might be Sunday and I'm publishing this weeks blog. I'm learning how to be consistent. I'm committing to being consistent.
